Role

Human Resources Consultant (Contract role)

Contribution

Delivered end-to-end HR and industrial relations consulting services during critical startup phases of multiple organisational units. Spearheaded comprehensive due diligence processes for business acquisitions, ensuring smooth integration of workforce and culture.

Expertly managed complex operational transitions, guiding teams through organisational change while maintaining productivity and employee engagement.

Designed and implemented robust HR/IR systems and frameworks from the ground up, including employment offer processes, remuneration processes, payroll design and  implementation, and negotiation of enterprise bargaining agreements.

Provided strategic guidance to senior leadership teams to support sustainable business growth and cultural transformation.

Yancoal Australia

Orchestrated the human resources strategy that powered Yancoal Group’s remarkable expansion from a single coal mine with 300 employees to a major industry player operating 10 mines and employing 3,000 people. Over three years, successfully steered multiple mergers and acquisitions, managing complex stakeholder relationships including several Chinese state-owned enterprises.

Led the design and implementation of scalable HR frameworks that supported this threefold growth while maintaining operational excellence and cultural alignment across all sites.

Executive General Manager – People

Contribution

As a key member of the Executive Leadership Team reporting directly to the CEO, provided strategic oversight of Yancoal Group’s entire human resources function. Led the development and execution of group-wide strategies across:

  • Leadership and talent development initiatives
  • Executive and workforce remuneration frameworks
  • Strategic workforce planning and recruitment
  • Industrial relations and employee engagement
  • HR systems implementation and integration
  • Organisational development and change management

Established governance frameworks and maintained functional oversight of HR operations across all mine sites, ensuring consistent policy implementation while supporting local operational requirements.

Norco Co-operative

Norco Co-operative Limited stands as Australia’s last remaining 100% farmer-owned dairy cooperative, representing a significant force in the Australian dairy industry with annual revenue of A$600 million. Operating across Queensland and New South Wales, the cooperative maintains a diverse business portfolio including three major dairy processing facilities producing consumer dairy products, 24 rural retail stores serving farming communities, and two stock feed manufacturing plants.

With a workforce of 850 employees, Norco exemplifies the successful integration of traditional cooperative values with modern business operations, supporting both its farmer-members and broader agricultural communities through its integrated supply chain and retail presence.

Role

General Manager – Human Resources

Contribution

Successfully led the organisation’s response to a complex Coronial Inquest, managing all stakeholder relationships and legal requirements, resulting in no adverse findings against Norco.

Negotiated multiple Enterprise Agreements across manufacturing and retail operations, securing positive outcomes for both the cooperative and workforce. Maintained productive relationships with major unions throughout negotiations, achieving agreement without any industrial action or lost time.

Designed and implemented comprehensive HR frameworks to drive organisational performance, including: strategic workforce planning initiatives; streamlined organisational structures; modernised HR policies and procedures.

Strengthened the HR team’s capabilities through targeted development and mentoring, enabling successful in-house management of complex employee relations matters including unfair dismissal claims, industrial disputes and grievance resolution.

Led the successful implementation of integrated HR technology solutions, including: new payroll system; e-recruitment platform; comprehensive HR information system (ICHRIS).
